Well I have been a very busy boy this last week. The weekend started with a 1,500 point tournament, continued with an extra gaming day on Monday while "Life After the Cover Save" recorded a show at Paper Hero's in Saugus, CA then I had my normal gaming night and did a bit of Painting last night.
I have been hard at work on my YouTube channel

10,000 views and a 2k Tournament
We hit the 10,000 views milestone! I would like to thank everyone who has been following my blog and those who just come across it by accident. I hope these 10,000 view have been as good for you as they have been for me.
On to the real news! I attended a 2,000 point tournament this weekend in Bakersfield, CA. This was my first time gaming in this area but my friend Biff has been trying to get me to come up for a while now. So I finally make the trip up and he ends up working! Typical Biff!
Anyway this was a chance for me to get to flex a bit of Forge World muscle as they were allowing it to be used in the tournament. I was actually a bit surprised that I was not the only one who brought the resin to the table.
Here is a video recap of my games!
I ended up going with List #5 from my last post. The one thing I have to say is I really don't like screamers and flamers anymore. With being 2 wounds each at 23 and 25 points seems a bit to cheap when you add in how hard they hit you and the Fateweaver re-roll. But I guess this is their time to shine as the book has not been very good over the last several year. Things will change again though, we just have to wait.
Till next time! Happy Wargaming!

List building for 2,000 point tournament: part 1
So I have been extended an invite by Biffomatic to make the drive up to Bakersfield, CA to play in a 2,000 point tournament next Saturday. The only problem I have is WHAT DO I BRING?
I seem to have a lot of options open to me as they are allowing Forge World in the tournament and as I have been running tournaments with Forge World allowed I have not seen any problems with it. On the other hand I have not had the opportunity to play with my Forge World at any tournament thus far.
So far the lists I am looking at are:

Happy New Year, our last tournament of 2012.
So for Christmas I ended up getting a camcorder. Now I can start doing video BatReps and some video updates. Maybe this will help with showing off the models better and I won't forget details of the BatReps!
Well here is my first video ever! It is just an intro for the games that were played at the tournament. Let me know what you think!
I hope everyone has a happy New Year!
Till next time! Happy Wargaming!

Veterans Day 40K Tournament Results
So this last Sunday I ran a 1,500 point tournament at my local store and something odd happened. A ton of people showed up!
This was our first 6th edition tournament at our store so it was going to be a learning experience for me with any odd rule questions and to see how my missions worked out.

Thunderdome Battle Recap and our last 5th Ed Tournament
Well I will try to make this short and sweet in regards to the Thunderdome fight. I could not roll anything other then 1s and 2s to save my life. In the first 10 rolls I had like 7 1s and that was the trend most of the game. TL-Lascannons from the Land Raider rolls to hit were 2s then the re-rolls were 1s. On my turn 1 my drop pod scattered 2" (snake eyes) I did manage to pen the Psyfleman 3 times, but the results were 1,1,2... and it was like that all game... not much else I can really say. If the dice aren't with you, or even average your not going to win. And in this case all my major shooting with Twin-Linked and built to counter bad rolls, but I had no such luck...
On the plus side, my opponent bought me custom dice to match my army (gold/blue)! Yay for new dice and a cool guy Biffomatic!
Now for our last 5th ed. tournament.....

Army Update and other stuff.
Well it's been almost 2 weeks since my last post... it does not feel like it though. Well here is some stuff I have been up to. I ran another Tournament at my FLGS, we had some new faces show up from Bakersfield. One of them being Biffomatic, A blog follower, ended up winning with his

My recent hobby activity.
Here is my latest update. I have done a bit of modeling lately in order to get ready for an 1850 point tournament at Game Empire Pasadena. In order to bring my 1500 point list up to the 1850 point level I had to build a few more models (I did not get them painted for the tournament). The list of new models includes a 10-man Tac Marine squad, Predator with Lascannon Sponsons (I Magnetized them... but forgot to take pictures), Razorback, and a Drop Pod. I did not end up using the Razorback, but I though I was going to get it in a list. Damn last minute list changes!
As far as the tournament went I had a lot of fun. It was my first time playing at the store, but I had met the guy running it before as he also ran the Semi-Final 'Ard Boyz last year. For my tournament buy-in I picked up a Space Marine Land Speeder (add that to the list of "stuff to build"). My first game was against Dok (check out his blog at http://www.3forint.com/) he was playing Blood Angels. His list was very fast, he had 2 Ravens, several Preds, a Razorback, and a rhino. All being led into battle by Mephy and a Libby attached to some TH/SS Terminators. You can check out his BatRep > here < I will just post some pictures. I am not going to do a BatRep for any of my games, just a quick overview.

Our 3rd local tournament & some special Thank-Yous.
Lets start with the Thank-Yous. I recently joined the HoP Blog Network (House of Paincakes) and would like to thank Lauby for the spot in the "New Member Monday" post as well as the "User Content - 40k in a Flash + Campaign" post.
The 2nd thank you to Lantz M. over at Santa Cruz Warhammer for the recognition in the "Honor Roll" post for my Celestial Lions Land Raider Crusader I had been working on for a tournament.

Painted Army Self Challenge- Completed!
Ok so yesterday was the tournament and I had a fully painted army!
Round 1 I had a buy
Round 2 I played against Necrons and Lost... Dawn of War, 5 objectives. Vulkan and his Terminators rolled a snake eyes to assault through difficult terrain after disembarking from the Land Raider. It would have really changed the game. As well we only make it to the end of turn 4 because my opponent played very slow.
Round 3 Played against KFF, Battle Wagon Orks. It was a kill points game that I won at the last turn. I was able to take out a Battle Wagon, Mob O'Boys, Mob O'Nobs, and a Warboss in the bottom of the 6th. Thanks to the Terminators and Vulkan. All the Tac Marines did all game was kill the Wagon on turn 6.

Necron Deployment
Turn 1 (my Rhino is the only thing on the table at the start of turn 1, you can see it at the bottom left by the ruins.)

Turn 1 Surprise!
here is the movement of Top of 3. Orks tryed to Deff Rolla the Ironclad in the center, but got punched to death instead!
Scouts checking out some of the action!
I did not win best painted, although I think it was close. I will have to ask the TO and see what kind of painting tips I can get. I did however win Sportsman! So I grabbed a Razorback!
Till next time! Happy Wargaming!

Working toward a tournament.
Rhino
AoBR Captain w/Relic Blade
So I had to go to work on writing an army list that would do "ok" and that I would be able to hopefully have painted for the tournament. I settled on a list last week.
HQ:
Titus Leonis Maximus (Counts as Vulkan)
Elites:
Ironclad Dread w/H.Flamer & Meltagun, Drop Pod
Ironclad Dread w/H.Flamer & Meltagun, Drop Pod
7x Assault Terminators w/2 LC & 5 TH/SS, Land Raider Crusader w/Multi-Melta
Troops:
10x Tac Marines w/Melta, Missile Launcher, Powerfist, Rhino
5x Scouts w/Bolt Pistol, CCW, Powerfist, Combi-Melta
Fast Attack:
Land Speeder Storm w/Multi-Melta
Now I have to build a Land Raider Crusader and Land Speeder Storm from the Space Marine Megaforce that just came in, as well as I have to get a Scout Sgt with Powerfist, Tac Sgt with Powerfist, Meltagunner, and Missile Launcher Marine all built and magnetized. I also have the second pair of Contemptor arms to build and magnetize and magnetize the AoBR Terminators to have the Lightning Claws that were left over from the Assault Terminator box.
So I busted my hump this weekend. I made some molds of power fists for the Tac and Scout Sergeants and made some copies for them. I build the Missile Marine from AoBR and with some Dremel work got the Lion Shoulder pad on him. Magnetized the AoBR Terminators. Build and magnetized the Land Raider Crusader, and Land Speeder Storm. I also magnetized the Meltagunner so that I can switch out his guns... So far I have used about 100 of the 1/8th in magnets and half a dozen of the 1/16th inch ones.
Here is the end result of a hectic weekend.
Now to start painting everything...
Do you guys think I will have it done by Friday? I have some been invited to be on the Podcast "Life After the Cover Save" on Friday night, so I won't have any time to work then. If you aren't busy on Friday night check out the show live. They normally broadcast on UStream at http://www.ustream.tv/user/LAtCS you can also find them on iTunes or they will post a direct link the their newest episodes here on their forums.

Tournament Recap
Ok, so lets start with the LFGS Tournament that I ran on Sunday. I increased the game size to 1850 and we had a better turnout then back in November, this time we had 6 people and one of them was a new player to our store. I used the same missions as the last tournament but in a different order. So round 1 we had some interesting match ups.
Round 1:
Space Wolves (LoganWing) VS "Red Scorpions" Dark Angels (Deathwing)
Tyranids (Null Deployment) VS Blood Angels
Eldar VS Dark Eldar (Wych Cult)
Round 1 I matched up the Loganwing and Deathwing only because I thought it would be a really interesting fight to happen. The Dark/Eldar players were both a bit late so I paired them up and the BA and Nids just ended up being stuck with one another. 2 of the games were solid victories for the BA and the DE, the Terminator lists tied on objectives and it came down to victory points. The Dark Angeles were able to pull it off by about 80 points.
Round 2:
Blood Angels VS Dark Angels (Objective tie, DA win on VP)
Space Wolves VS Dark Eldar (DE Victory)
Eldar VS Nids (Nid Victory)
Round 3:
Space Wolves VS Nids (Nid Victory)
Eldar VS Blood Angels (BA Victory)
Dark Angels VS Dark Eldar (Objective tie, DA win on VP)
So at the end of the day Dark Angels walk away with the big prize for Best General, and the Space Wolves walked away with Best Painted. I allotted 2:20 per round but it turned out that almost everyone finished their games in about 2:00 so we were able to cut out some time off the end of the day. One thing I will have to change is the Sportsmanship scores. I was using a 0-3 scale for the players to judge their opponent by, but it appears they all are too nice about their games because we had a 4 way tie for first. Everyone was just giving out 3s... It looks like I will have to change it to "Pick your favorite opponent" so that I can give out more prizes. I think they were all trying to avoid looking like a "dick" for marking their opponent down on scores.

Special Delivery!
Well this last week I received several packages in the mail and it will give me some material to start working on the marines a little more. The first package I got was 300 magnets! 200 are 1/8th inch and 100 are 1/16th inch. I normally use the 1/8th inch magnets for everything from vehicle doors to marines and dreads. The 1/16th inch magnets are something new for me. I was planning on using them to magnetize special weapons onto marines. So far this has been successful, I have used the 1/16th magnets on 2 marines (1 tac and 1 assault) and on 5 guns (Bolter, Bolt Pistol, Meltagun, Plasmagun, and Flamer). I may have to post a simple tutorial on how I do it, it's not hard at all, and I may have to do one for the Contempor arms as well (they are a bit more complicated).
Well besides the Magnets I received a good size order of bits from Scibor. I got the Lion decorative plates, more lion helmets and more shoulder pads. I am a bit worried about the AoBR tac marines and how much work it's going to be to remove their left shoulder to put on the lion ones. Finally the last package I received was the Space Marine MEGAFORCE! Man was this box bigger then I expected. I have not opened the box yet as I think there may be an unboxing video in the works, but I am really looking forward to starting on this kit. I am not looking forward to 1 part of it though... another drop pod. I like how they look and work in the game, but man do they have a lot of surface area to paint!
Scibor bits FTW!
I have also been working on an a flying Assault Marine squad, the AoBR Captain, and the Rhino from the SM Battle Force. I am also running out local tournament this Sunday and have upped to points for the Tournament up to 1850.
Here is a question for you guys. What do you think is the best size for a monthly run tournament and why?
I will finally leave you with the AoBR Dread that I finally got based.

Modeling update and my time as a new TO.
Well as I was given 11/11/11 off to honor all our great Veterans that have served our great nation I spent my time painting some Tac Marines that will one day become veterans of the 41st millennial. I got down to business and painted 6 Tac Marines that I posted some pics of in my last entry, as well as I built my 2nd Contemptor Dread but not the arms (need to order more magnets), and got some last minute items together for the first 40k tournament I would be running.
Lets start off with the Tac marines. When I first started working on the idea for this army I used the Space Marine Painter over at BolterandChainsword.com and it looked like this...
Well I think I got close to that with my actual models.
As I said as well that I put together the body of my 2nd Contemptor. I needed to make his base before I could really start putting it together as I was unsure how he would be standing on the base. I did not want to do another column on the base like I did for the first one, so I decided to go for some steps like I did for some of the Terminators. So here is a pic with the first Contemptor.
Besides all this modeling and painting I was the TO for what will hopefully become a monthly 40k tournament at my FLGS. It was a simply Win/Loss format with no battle points. I was going to make some of my own missions but with this being the first time around I figured it would be best to use something a little more established... like the AdepticCon missions. I did catch some flack for letting everyone know that I would be allowing Forge World units to be used as long as they had the model or a very close stand in (regular drop pod can count as a dreadnought drop pod), but that they must have the newest book/Data sheet for what they would want to use. All FW items would first have to be approved by me and that no formations, super heavies, or gargantuan creatures would be allowed. In the end though no one even brought any FW so it did not matter, then again only 4 people came. But even though turn out was low we were able to give out over $100 in prizes, everyone got to play each other, and I got to watch some interesting games. There were very few questions overall and everything went smoother then I could have hoped.
The tournament ended with Blood Angels taking 1st going 3-0 and received $65 in GW product. Best painted when to Necrons and received $25 in GW product, and the Best Sportsman when to a Space Wolves player who also received $25 in GW product.
Unfortunately I did not take any pictures for you guys, but if you would like me to take some of the next tournament let me know and I will be happy to show off some of our local armies. Heck maybe next time we can talk Faolain from http://awakeningynnead.blogspot.com to join in, I am sure we would be the top contender for best painted just by showing up.

Random Doubles 1,000 point Tournament
Yesterday I took about a drive down to Paper Hero's Comics in Saugus, CA for a 1,000 points doubles tournament. It was more of a fun tournament then a real competitive tournament due to how the teams were going to be set up. Round 1 teams were going to be completely random, round 2 and 3 the person with the highest score would be paired with the person with the lowest score and the pairings will work though the list in the same manner.
I made several different lists for my Tyranids, Chaos Marines, and Guard. In the end I decided to go with the Imperial Guard just because of what was available to use at 1,000 points. Here is the list I ended up taking.
HQ:
Primaris Psyker
Troops:
Vet. Squad w/Chimera
Vet. Squad w/Chimera
Fast Attack:
Vendetta
Vendetta
Heavy Support:
Hydra
Leman Russ Demolisher
Leman Russ Demolisher w/Hull Lascannon
The first issue we ran into was that only 4 people showed up till 1 min. before we were scheduled to start then 1 other person arrived. This left 5 people for a doubles tournament. The TO ended up playing and we were running 1 2v2 game and 1 1v1 game. Of the armies that showed up 3 were Imperial Guard, 1 Space Wolves Pod list, 1 Dark Eldar, and 1 Chaos Space Marines. Everyone had 1 1v1 game and 2 2v2 games. when all the games were finished 1 person won all there games 2 of us were 2-1 and the last 2 were 1-2. Because there was no buy-in for this tournament everyone ended up with some kind of store credit.
In the end I had 3 fun laid back games, I won 1 team game and my 1v1 game. I walked away with good times with some friends and a Space Marine Drop Pod that I needed for the army I am working on anyway.
