40K withdrawal and year end tournament

I am going Crazy! I have not gotten in a game in the last week and a half and it may be another week and a half before my next! GAHHHHH!
I am running another tournament on this Sunday and due to the unexpectedly good turnout from our last tournament we had to put a cap on the participants. Last month we had 17 people show up and we ran out of space and tables. So now we have a 12 player cap and only 8 guaranteed spots as spots 9-12 would have to play outside, and where we are it may not snow much but it is cold and always windy.

I do have an idea for a list though if I have to be a ringer in the tournament... IG with Chaos Allies!

IG
HQ:
Primaris Psyker

Troops
Vets w/Missile Launcher, Grenade Launcher, Chimera
Vets w/Missile Launcher, Grenade Launcher, Chimera

Fast Attack
Vendetta
Vendetta

Heavy Support
Leman Russ Punisher w/Heavy Bolter Sponsons, Heavy stubber
Leman Russ Battle Tank w/Heavy Bolter Sponsons

Chaos
HQ
Sorcerer w/Terminator Armor, Force Axe, Burning Brand of Skalathrax

Troops
5x CSM w/Plasmagun

Fast Attack
Heldrake w/Baleflamer

Heavy Support
Maulerfiend w/Magmacutters

It seems like a good mix to me with 3 Troops, 3 Fast, 3 Heavy, and 2 HQs both being Psykers. With the 3 flyers I should be able to hit whatever needs to be hit, Armor/Flyers gets the vendettas, Troops get the Heldrake.

I have have also gotten some hobby work done. I built and painted a unit of Honor Guard/Vanguard/Command Squad and the Deathwing Terminators from the Dark Vengeance kit.

Honor Guard/Vanguard/Command Squad without the Apothecary

Did some work on the Banner

These guys were are a bit of kit bashing. They have parts from Gray Knights, Command Squad, Dreadnought, Space Marine Scouts, Chaos Space Marines. To give them a bit more of a unified look I gave everyone but the Banner Bearer the same front torso with the chainmail.

Apothecary

So for the Apothecary I went with a different chapter to show that the Celestial Lions are getting help to rebuild their chapter after the 3rd War of Armageddon. In this case I went with a alternate color scheme for Dark Angels. The reason for this was I figured I may ally the Lion with them as I have the DA from the DV starter set and not to mention the DA book coming out soon.

In addition to the Apothecary I did the the Terminators from the DV set.

Here are a couple of my first test models.

I thought it looked decent enough I did the rest of the unit.

I am looking forward to doing the rest of the DA. I have been wanting to pick up the Cypher model for CSM for the longest time and now I have a reason to. I can throw the DA in with my CSM as "the fallen" just to give the CSM some more flavor. They would use the ally rules but just a CSM unit that looks like DA.

Oh some other good news! I ended up getting a small camcorder for Christmas and I will be trying to do video Bat Reps! So if anyone is in the Antelope Valley area and wants to get a game in for a Video Battle Report let me know!

Till next time! Happy Wargaming!

  1. Good stuff with the Lions, man! I like how those are coming along.

I've been dabbling with Guard with "X" allies for Adepticon, and I have to admit I hadn't thought to try CSM. Off to mess around with lists some more!

    Keep up the great work!
