Drop Pod Progress

Well it's time for an update. I have been hard at work trying to get one of the Drop Pods painted and I am only about 90% done with it at the moment. I still have some white spaces that need to get cleaned up, give it a wash, and some highlights, but I thought I would share what I have completed so far with you.

It looks kind of plain at the moment but I have been thinking of either doing some freehand of a lions head on the door panels or adding some of these decorative plates from Scibor as they continue to release lion themed items.

Man this pod is harder to paint than I expected. It has a lot more surface area then I though. I hate to think that I have been going with the idea of having 5 in my 1500 point list. I may need to rethink my list a bit if I don't want to paint that much. Also the Shining Gold has been giving me issue with showing the brush strokes, if anyone has some good advise on how to help avoid that issue please feel free to share it with me. At the moment I am having to just paint it with several layers of gold and I am hoping that a wash will also help to hide some of the brush marks. Someone told me that basing the model with Boltgun Metal would help with the brush marks, I tried it and It seemed to work but made the gold way to dark.

Let me know what you guys think so far.

Celestial Lion Progress Update

Here are some pics of the progress I have made on the Celestial Lions. I have been given word that my Battleforce should be in this Friday after over 2 months of waiting...

I am currently working on painting one of my Drop Pods... Man there is a lot more surface area on them then I thought.

BatRep vs. BigCat from "Life After the Cover Save"

Here is a BatRep that BigCat from LAtCS made up. I requested that he use his Dark Eldar so that I can get some more experience against them with my new SM army that I am working on. You will see some projects that are currently under construction and some of my chaos that are acting as Proxies for the Loyalist units.

Contemptor Pattern Dreadnought: Build

The Contemptor Pattern Dreadnought was a very interesting build. The kit is very well made with minimal flashing and mold line. The design is also outstanding I though. They got some interesting details into the model that I did not even notice till I was almost done building it. Things like how the leg joints and knee pads work in a way to give you a correct range of motion for the model so you know what kind of leg position would work well with the kit.

I have the pillar magnetized for easier transport. The model itself is also quite the job to magnetize. I have each joint in the arms magnetized, the shoulders, head, and torso all magnetized.

Here is a pic of the Torso and 1 arm in it's individual parts.

And finally here is a picture for size comparison with a chaos dread, and a peek at another project.

First Celestial Lion model done... almost.

Sorry for not having an update recently, life has been busy. But atleast I have been able to get some hobbying done. I am almost finished with my Captain Lysander model for the Celestial Lions, he needs a wash, some highlighting and scroll work but the majority is done. Here are a few pictures for you.
